A Framework and Self Assessment Workbook for Including Public Voices in AI

This report and framework presents a conceptual framework and a practical workbook for including public voices in artificial intelligence (AI). It combines existing literature from the fields of AI ethics, the field of participatory and deliberative democracy, and the field of systems change. Drawing on these resources, it explores the critical role of public participation in shaping the development and deployment of AI. It also interrogates the challenges experienced by commercial and policy practitioners in including public voices in AI, and presents a roadmap for next steps. This was part of a project funded by Responsible AI UK and steered by the Digital Good Network.
